How does Black Friday work on Amazon?

As a seller on Amazon, it’s important to know that Black Friday lasts for several days on the platform. Activity is high both the week before and after Black Friday, which is important to consider when planning.

Sales on Amazon don’t always peak on Black Friday itself, so it’s important to be active for an extended period.

What can you do on Amazon to stay visible throughout the entire Black Friday period?

1. Deals, coupons, and campaigns – what can you do?

As Black Friday approaches, you have the chance to run special offers on your products. However, this requires an invitation from Amazon, and not all sellers have access. Only some products may also be approved for deals.

Amazon has specific requirements you must meet to participate with Black Friday deals.

To qualify for deals, you need:

  • At least 4 stars in Seller Feedback on your profile
  • No rating or at least 3.5 stars on the product
  • Sales history on Amazon
  • Offer a Black Friday price at least 20% below your regular price
  • Be Prime eligible in your selling regions
  • Sell products in new condition

In your Seller account, go to the ADVERTISING tab and select DEALS. There, you can see if you qualify for Black Friday Deals on Amazon. (See image below)

If you don’t see the option on the Deals page, you’re not eligible for the event. But don’t worry – there are other ways to drive traffic to your products.
 

Lightning Deals and 7-Day Deals

Lightning Deal: Offer customers a time-limited discount on your products (4–12 hours according to Amazon). Products are featured on the Deals page with the Lightning Deal icon, which can drive sales.

7-Day Deal: The product is sold at a discounted price for 7 days and is also visible on the Deals page.

Both options require Amazon invitation and approval. Check your account to see if your products are eligible.


 

Coupons

As a professional Amazon seller, you can create coupons for your products. Customers can choose to collect a coupon, and an Amazon account is needed.

A coupon is clearly visible on both the category page and the product page, showing the product has a special price during the period.

All sellers can create coupons, so this is definitely something to consider for Black Friday.
