Vild, Vildare, Amazon!

If there’s one thing we as consumers increasingly crave, it’s convenience—and if any company truly gets this, it’s Amazon!

The American ecommerce giant recently took another step and launched Amazon Key—a service that enables package deliveries inside your front door, even when you’re not home.

This is possible through a combination of their Cloud Camera and a series of smart locks. The delivery starts with Amazon verifying that the right employee is at the right place at the right time, using an encrypted authentication process. When that’s done, the Cloud Camera begins recording and the door unlocks only as long as needed for the package to be delivered and the courier to leave.

As if that wasn’t enough, Amazon now launched Key In-Car. Here, the same authentication process starts, but instead of letting Amazon into your home, you temporarily unlock your car’s trunk—and get the delivery there, even while you’re at work.

With the In-Car service, you get a four-hour delivery window, and your car needs to be parked in a public area no more than two blocks from the address you gave at checkout.

To use this innovative service you must be an Amazon Prime member and live in one of 37 selected U.S. cities, and at first, Amazon Key In-Car is only available for owners of newer Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac models. While the service isn’t available in Europe yet, that’s probably just a matter of time.
